So I figured I would start putting the stuff I do on here instead of Facebook. Because Facebook is a thief and copyright everything you put on there, it’s kind of creepy… Google your name. Anyways this is the first project I had to do for Print Production. First finished project of the quarter. I used a picture of Creed and Grover in Illustrator and painted over it. We were only aloud to use two different colors so that’s why they are blue and pink. I don’t like the border that much but I couldn’t find the one I wanted so oh well.

Grover is black lab and he is nine weeks old and fifteen pounds. He has been sick and we took him to the vet Saturday and got him checked out. He loved seeing all the other dogs in the lobby. He made good friends with a basset hound and two people came in with full grown black labs. Grover was excited to play with the big dogs but I don’t think he liked standing on the table where the vet gave him a look over. He didn’t cry when they gave him his shot but he sure didn’t like it when they took the stool sample. It turned out he had roundworms like I though. They gave us medicine and we scheduled for his next shot appointment in three weeks. For his med. they gave us some powder dewormer to mix in his food. I had to poor some water on his puppy chow so that it would stick and at first he ate it just fine. But this morning he wouldn’t eat it. He has been picking at his food since six this morning and it being four hours later he still hasn’t even finished half of it. Plus he has been sleeping all morning, this is extremely out of character for him and I am starting to get really worried.

So I haven’t updated my blog in a long time. I actually forgot all about it until today when I was browsing the school’s website as a way to get out of working on my homework. I am very productive, I know. But I think I am going to try to start updating this more often. A lot has changed since I last posted. I am no longer getting a degree in Web Design. I now major in Graphic Design which is a lot more aspiring to me.

I am currently Interning at Minutemen Press in Georgetown which is really interesting and I think that I will learn a lot there. Except I can only go three days a week for now because I can’t work on the days that I have classes. Plus I don’t go in until twelve because we, me and my boyfriend, just got a puppy and I don’t want to leave him locked up in his cage all day. He’s a black lab and he is pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. He is a little shit though and chews on everything. Including me.

I am not sure what else to put on here for now but I am going to try to start actually using my blog because it could come to be very useful.

My client’s name is Bunny Petty; she is the senior English teacher at Florence High School and is also a part time professor for Central Texas College. She teaches College classes to high school Juniors and Seniors who test into it. She has a basic site right now, which is required for all the teacher at the school. However, most of the information on it it out of date, and she would like it to be more updated. The school does not require a certain structure for the teacher’s web pages and there is no limit to what they can and cannot have on theirs. She would like her tone to be professional and educational. She does require that her schedule, class rules, and the syllabus for the duel credit classes be on there.  She would also like a short biography to be presented. English web pages that she would like hers to be similar to and would like to be able to connect to from her site are http://owl.english.purdue.edu/ , www.citationmachine.net, and www.ctcd.edu .

In order to create a web site you must follow six major steps. Which are site definition and planning, information architecture, site design, site construction, site marketing, tracking, evaluation, and maintenance. Possibly the most important thing about starting a site would be to make sure you have the right people to create the site, the budget to back the site, and that you will be able to maintain it. 

The initial stage is to set your goals and start your planning. Figure out the budget, the site’s content, it’s functionality, and technology support required. You also need to make sure that you hav everything you will need for production, all the technology needed, web server support, and enough for the budget to create and maintain the site. Every site needs a project manager and a process manager.

The project manager creates the site and once it is running they hand it over to the process manger who may or may not be the official editor of the site. The site editor also makes sure that all materials that are copyrighted on the site are not misused.

At this stage, site design, a content architecture should be drawn out and prototypes created. You need to keep your site organized and well designed in order to atract more viewers. You can create templates, it is much easier to add pages to a web site when when you can work of a page that contains all the basic navigations. You also need to make sure your site is accessable to all users.

When you get to the more mature stage of site construction is when the bulk of the site’s pages are constructed. You want to wait until now to start your site because you want to make sure you have all the components needed, a tested wireframes and prototypes, and a polished page to put on your site.

“Once it has all be constructed… it is ready for user testing.” Which should be done by people who were not involved in creating your site or in your site development team. Someone that will give informed criticism and tell you of any bugs, typograhic errors, and or design malfunctions.

The first thing a web page needs is an objective.

    

 

  A web page must be planned in order to be succesful. Which requires getting a team together and setting your goals for the page. Then you must create a charter stating everything you planned to do, everything that is needed to do this, and how long it will take to finish it. Doing all of this will atract more viewers to your site.   

In an ideal job a team can be created to make the web page. Some of the skills need for a development team are strategy and planning, project management, information architecture and user interface design, graphic design for the web, web technology, and site production. The project manager keeps the page up to date and fresh which will keep people to come back.
